ABOUT ANCHR
Built on a simple idea: HR should feel steady.
AncHR exists because most growing companies have outgrown their spreadsheet-and-Google-search approach to HR — but haven’t grown enough to need a full-time HR leader. That gap is where things quietly go wrong: non-compliant contracts, inconsistent performance reviews, policies that haven’t been updated since someone downloaded them in 2019.
We close that gap. Senior HR expertise, delivered on the scale your business actually needs — whether that’s one well-crafted document, a three-month build-out of your HR foundations, or an ongoing monthly retainer where we’re the person your leadership team calls when something’s complicated.
The anchor metaphor — why it matters
An anchor doesn’t steer the ship. It holds it steady while the captain steers. That’s the role AncHR plays for the companies we work with: we hold the HR foundations steady — the contracts, the policies, the people practices — so leadership can focus on the business. When the water gets rough, we’re already in place.
How we work differently
- Discovery before pricing. We don’t publish fees because we don’t sell SKUs. Every engagement is scoped to the specific business first — then priced.
- Senior only. You always work directly with a senior practitioner. No associates, no handoffs, no “I’ll need to check with my team.”
- Written, transferable work. Everything we build is yours to keep, modify, and pass on — we don’t gate access to your own policies behind our software.
- Retainer-first for ongoing clients. If we’re supporting you monthly, we’re doing it on a predictable retainer — not by the invoice-surprise hour.
Who we work with
Companies typically come to us at an inflection point — a first hire, a 10th hire, a 50th hire. Many are Ontario-based and operating across professional services, trades, healthcare-adjacent, and non-profit sectors. Some have no HR function at all; others have an office manager or controller who has inherited it. Either is fine. What we don’t do is enterprise HR transformation — there are larger firms for that.
